The International Astronomical Union (IAU) is founded in the year of 1919. The mission of International Astronomical Union is to promote and
safeguard the science of astronomy by international co-operation. The members of International Astronomical Union are structured into different divisions, commissions, program groups and working groups. IAU get collaborates with various organizations present in all over the countries. The International Astronomical Union is consisting of about 10,082 staffs in 90 countries worldwide. Scientific meeting is the key activity of International Astronomical Union. Each and every year the International Astronomical Union tends to sponsor nine international IAU Symposia. The IAU is mainly composed of national members and individual members. The IAU provides social programs or events in promoting astronomical education and research through program groups in International school of Young astronomers (ISYA), World Wide Development of Astronomy (WWDA), Teaching Astronomy Development (TAD) with the joint hands of COSPAR and UNESCO. People can also login in to iau.org website to know about the updates. All kinds of updates are posted in that website for establishing their activities. The general assembly implements the long term policy of IAU in co-operation with the executive Committee members. The General Assembly is conducted for every three years once in IAU.
